The SPCK Family

There are four other members of the SPCK family around the world.
All are autonomous, but share the same mission statement and work together where possible. Click on the relevant logo to get more information:

India

The Indian SPCK is a successful indigenous publisher with a proactive publishing agenda.
SPCK has been serving the church in India since 1710.The India chapter was established in 1935 and became a fully autonomous ecumenical organisation in 1958. It has become a major contributor in Christian publishing to the Indian Church. ISPCK's distinctiveness lies in promoting indigenious talent in literature and music, publishing a little over a 100 titles a year in various regional languages.
The Society highlights the needs of the Bio-region. It engages in empowering women, subaltern and minority groups in keeping with the Millenium Development goals through its inclusive training programmes, and it provides Christian resources through its nine bookstores in Delhi, Ajmer, Bilaspur, Chotanagpur, Darjeeling, Kolkata, Nagpur, Dehradun, and Suranussi.
The Society also supports primary education for impoverished children through its ISPCK Freeschools Programme.

Ireland

Although it only joined the SPCK family in 1996, APCK (the Association for Promoting Christian Knowledge) has been active in Ireland since 1792. It is linked to the Church of Ireland but independent from it. APCK acts as publisher for the Church of Ireland, and produces a small number of new books and pamphlets each year as well as the Church's Book of Common Prayer and other liturgical publications.

Australia

Established in 1976, SPCKA has focused primarily on raising funds to support a grants programme. In recent years close links have developed with the Australian Christian Literature Society, an organisation with similar aims but drawing its support from a slightly different constituency. Over the past few years SPCKA has also put its name to a number of publications aimed at the Christian market in Australia.

USA

SPCK/USA was established in 1983 to raise money and support a grant programme mirroring that of SPCK itself. Based at the University of the South in Sewanee it raises funds to support its own projects.

A major initiative has been the development of the Adopt-a-Seminary scheme, whereby donated second-hand theology books are carefully selected and offered to theological colleges and seminaries throughout the world.
