We have recently formed this new arm of the Society, with the intention of researching and producing innovative items to reach new audiences and hence to achieve the wider dissemination of Christian knowledge.
We also intend to produce material in familiar formats but to find innovative and effective means of distributing or marketing them to reach a wider audience.
This might involve using or creating particular materials for special-interest groups which lead them from their familiar starting-points to more spiritual areas. It might involve leading them by a surprising route to a connection with specific religious knowledge. Or it might simply involve finding an unusual way to bring our materials to the attention of groups otherwise unlikely to encounter them.
We aim to reach those who currently lack the means or the connection to find a path to greater understanding of the Christian hope, as well as those who have previously lacked the spur of interest.
Early plans include the provision of new and constructive literacy materials for those in prison; an exhibition to highlight the little-known connection between the Church and major football clubs; and the creation of instructive and supportive Christian materials in podcasts and downloadable formats.
All donations to SPCK are gratefully received and will be allocated to the area of greatest need, unless you want to give to a specific programme.
