Posture & Place

"No pain, no gain" may be an appropriate motto for a workout at the gym, but it's not the right approach to prayer. We pray most easily and effectively when we are comfortable - but not so relaxed that we fall asleep. For many people, the best posture is to sit in an upright chair with legs uncrossed, the soles of the feet flat on the floor, hands resting in the lap, palms facing upwards, and eyes closed. Clearly, this won't be appropriate if you "take your moment" whilst cycling or walking! For others, kneeling is the chosen posture for prayer, or sitting on the floor.
For some, it will be helpful to always pray in the same location - perhaps a quiet room at home, or in a garden, a park or a church. Try different locations to see which is best for you. For others, the location may be unimportant.
