 ...the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge. SPCK was founded in 1698 and works to help people to understand and to grow in the Christian faith. We work to support and develop the knowledge of Christians and to interest and inform others. We have been associated throughout our long history with the spread of informative literature in all its forms from early pamphlets to the latest electronic formats. During this time we have worked on projects in all of the world's continents. It is perhaps our books for which we are best known, and which continue to be a strength at the core of the Society's output.
In October 2006, the SPCK Bookshops were transferred to another charity, the St Stephen the Great Charitable Trust (SSG), who run them independently of SPCK. SSG will not in future be using the SPCK name for these shops. |
