Prayers for the Church Year

Maundy Thursday

Water and bread and wine.
A celebration that ends in tragedy.
A day that stretches emotions taut as we follow his progress.
This is my body,
this is my blood
This is our God.
This is his ending
With the beginning hidden from sight.

Servant Lord

Jesus, servant Lord, in your final moments with your disciples you chose to give an example of loving service. Fill your Church with this servant heart ... May the love we display be worthy of your calling and name.

Jesus, servant Lord, in agony in the garden you shared with all who face anguish and whose hearts are troubled ... With your broken bread and blood outpoured we hold before your healing grace our pains and sorrows.
