Reflecting on your Life through Prayer
You might like to connect this time of asking, sometimes called ‘interceding,' with time taken to reflect
and think about your life, and simply to listen. Listen to what some call ‘God,' but you might like to think of as your ‘inner voice.' You need to take time to stop and listen, if that voice is to be heard, for we all know how noisy the rest of our lives may be!
If you have now managed to carve out the time, it may help using music to ease you into the mood, or looking at pictures that move you.
You will find a number of meditation prayers in Prayers for the Ups and Downs of Life. Traditionally, people who live lives as ‘religious,' monks or nuns, have set times through the day when they pray together, using this rhythm to root their lives. David Adam's little book The Rhythm of Life sets out a week's worth of prayer times for morning, noon, afternoon and evening, so if you're finding this very hard, try that out and see if his simple work helps you.
